PEORIA, Ariz. – Police are asking for information from the public as they investigate a burglary at an elementary school in Peoria.

A custodian at Sky View Elementary School near Sweetwater and 87th avenues discovered the break-in Monday morning. Police determined the crime occurred sometime between Thursday afternoon and 5 a.m. Monday.

Peoria police spokesman Jay Davies said the thief or thieves took six projectors valued at about $600 each.

"The pieces of technology that were taken are certainly items used frequently by students, helping them with a number of things they learn in the classroom, and it's a big loss for these students," explained Danielle Airey.

The suspect or suspects also damaged more than a dozen doors in their attempts to gain access to multiple classrooms.

Officials said this was the eighth burglary at the school since November.

"Since those break-ins began we've stepped up patrols throughout the week, doing foot patrols on the campus trying to keep an eye on it," Davies said.

Police are trying to identify suspects in the case.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Peoria police at 623-773-7045 or PDTips@peoriaaz.gov or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
