2 Wounded in shooting; suspect on the loosePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Police are searching for one or two suspects in connection with a double shooting Sunday night.
It happened at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday inside a home in the neighborhood of 19th and Peoria avenues. Crime scene investigators were still on the scene more than 10 hours later.
Police are still trying to piece it all together, but according a person who was driving in the area at the time, one of the victims tried to flag him down. The driver said that victim was covered in blood.
That victim, who was bleeding from the head, eventually made his way to a nearby QT where he called 911.
When officers arrived at the home, they found the second victim. That victim was in critical condition when he was taken to a local hospital.
Police reportedly detained a woman, but it's not clear how she might be connected to the shooting. According to Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department, she told officers she was asleep when the suspect(s) broke into the house and started firing.
Detectives are still trying to determine exactly what happened in the minutes and hours leading up to the shooting, but said the woman's story and the information from the man who call 911 are not meshing.
Police are searching for one or two suspects. At this point, officers do not have a good description of the suspect(s).
Crump said investigators believe the suspect(s) in the shooting might have taken a vehicle belonging to one of the victims -- a maroon Ford Ranger pickup truck with a black left front fender.
According to neighbors, the two victims and the woman moved into the home about a week ago.
