Several freeways close for weekend constructionPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Several construction projects scheduled for this weekend could cause drivers big headaches. Crews will work in the North and East Valley, which means several freeway closures. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra time and consider alternate routes while these restrictions are in place:
*Northbound I-17 closed between Happy Valley Road and Loop 303 from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday (June 2) for pedestrian bridge installation at the Central Arizona Project canal. DETOUR: Use westbound Happy Valley Road to northbound Lake Pleasant Parkway to eastbound Loop 303 to access I-17 (18 mile detour).
*Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Loop 101 and Alma School Road from 3 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday (June 3) for installation of an electronic overhead message board. Ramps to eastbound Loop 202 from northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) also closed. DETOUR: Drivers can use McClintock Drive to Rio Salado Parkway to Alma School Road.
*Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) ramp to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 4) for guardrail work. Westbound US 60 on-ramp at Alma School Road also closed. DETOUR: Drivers can use McClintock Drive or Dobson Road to Broadway Road to access northbound Loop 101
