PHOENIX -- A Phoenix woman and her boyfriend have been arrested for allegedly forcing the woman’s 11-year-old daughter to live in deplorable conditions.

Sharon Roadlander, 35, and Jeremy Mountain, 28, were taken into custody Tuesday after police were called to their apartment in the area of 28th Street and Sheridan for a welfare check.

Authorities discovered that the residence was covered with trash, pornography, and clothes, with garbage piles reaching as high as 4 feet in some areas of the home.

Broken glass and drug paraphernalia was also present in the apartment, while cockroaches crawled on the walls.

During her court appearance Roadlander said she tried to clean the home. She also told police that Mountain was to blame for the pornography that was spread throughout the residence.

Roadlander works as a bus driver for the Creighton Elementary School District. The District has said that Roadlander is currently not under contract and not scheduled to work during the summer.

The Creighton Elementary School District added that they will wait until additional facts become available before making any decisions.

Roadlander is charged with child abuse, while Mountain is facing drug charges.

The child is now in CPS custody.
