PHOENIX -- The heat is on in the Valley of the Sun for the last few days of the work week.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for both Thursday and Friday that includes most of Maricopa County, including the Valley and the Lower Colorado River Valley to the west.

Temperatures will range from 107 to 112 degrees on Thursday and from 110 to 114 on Friday.  Friday's record in the Valley is 110 degrees, so it looks likely we'll at least tie a heat record before the heat eases up for the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday look for sunshine and highs between 101 and 105 degrees.  Overnight lows will continue to cool to the 70s.

For today, look for sunshine and a high of 101 degrees.

Another Ozone Health Watch is in effect for the Valley, with ground-level ozone forecast to approach unhealthy levels.  If you have a sensitive respiratory system, you're urged to limit your time outdoors today.  Everyone is encouraged to carpool and refuel after dark.
