CAMDEN, N.J. -- A New Jersey woman’s 1-year-old child is making headlines for a rather unusual trip to the Laundromat.

Sakia David’s son Saimeir Bush became an Internet sensation when he was seen on surveillance footage being placed in a washing machine.

About two weeks ago, a babysitter and an unidentified friend brought Bush to do the laundry while David was at work.

Surveillance footage from the Laundromat shows the friend putting the child in a washing machine, and then panicking when the machine turns on.

An employee was able to cut power to the washing machine and free the young child without any injuries.

The babysitter and her friend took Bush to the hospital, and then returned him to David without telling her what happened.

David didn’t find out what happened until the surveillance footage went viral and she was contacted by police.

“I was mad cause you shouldn’t put a kid in the washer. At the same time, he was just playin’ around,” David said.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has stated that while putting the baby in the washing machine was a bad idea, it was not a crime.

David said she’s not taking any more chances, and won’t be letting the babysitter watch her child.

The owner of the Laundromat said she too is considering extra precautions, and might put up signs telling people not to place kids in the washing machines.
