Crown King, Ariz. -- A Crown King resident was arrested Monday after Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies said he failed to obey an evacuation order.
Deputies say they received information from fire personnel that 53-year-old William Tiffany was in various spots around town.
Tiffany had been previously warned by deputies that he can only stay in Crown King, if he remained on his private property.
The town had been evacuated due to the Gladiator Fire.
Monday night deputies were told Tiffany had gone to the Crown King store to buy cigarettes and beer, according to YCSO. Deputies arrived and arrested Tiffany for violation of the lawful evacuation order, a misdemeanor.
Tiffany was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center.
Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies said they will follow-up on any leads related to the security of all communities under a mandatory evacuation order.
Deputies will patrol the towns that are evacuated to prevent looting and pursue people knowingly violating evacuation orders.
