Autistic boy killed on US 60

MESA, Ariz.-- A spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety said an autistic boy was killed Saturday evening while walking along the US 60.

Au-Juna Banks-Taylor, 9, was reported missing from his home near Greenfield and Main around 6:30 p.m.

Banks-Taylor was struck in the fourth lane of the five lane highway. The 62-year-old driver of the vehicle that officials believe struck Banks-Taylor stayed on the scene.

DPS said there was no indication of impairment.

DPS estimated the boy was five to six miles away from his home.
