Man robs Chevron store in Surprise

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Police are seeking information from the public regarding a suspect who robbed a Chevron convenience store near Bell and El Mirage roads in Surprise early Sunday morning.

Surprise police Lt. John Bacon said an African-American male contacted a Chevron employee outside the store around 1:30 a.m. He lifted his shirt to show a handgun and ordered the employee to go into the store with him.

The suspect showed the gun again and demanded the employee hand over the money in the register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled from the store on foot.

The suspect was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes at the time of the robbery.

At this time, police have not released any pictures or video of the suspect.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding this robbery to call 623-222-4000 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS to remain anonymous.
