PHOENIX (AP) -- A former Mesa junior high student has been detained for allegedly planning to shoot a teacher and six students and set off pipe bombs on the last day of school May 23.
Police say the unidentified 13-year-old boy was a seventh grader at Brimhall Junior High before his parents withdrew him from school.
Authorities say the teenager has been referred to Maricopa County Juvenile Court and he was being held Friday in a county juvenile detention center.
Police say a note was found believed written by the student that includes threats against specific individuals at Brimhall.
Police didn't find that the student brought any weapons to Brimhall. They won't say whether the boy had any pipe bombs, materials for them, or weapons at his home.
