Phoenix weather: Warm weekend aheadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Mother Nature is turning up the heat for Mother's Day weekend in Arizona.
A ridge of high pressure building over the Southwest means clear skies and warmer weather for at least the next six or seven days. Expect plenty of sunshine and highs in the upper 90s today.
Over the weekend, we'll warm things up a bit more with Valley highs near 100 Saturday and 102 Sunday.
Overnight lows will come up a few degrees, but we'll still cool things off to the mid 60s to mid 70s.
Next week looks warm and dry also, with triple digits sticking around through at least next Wednesday.
The Valley is under a high pollution advisory for ozone today. That means ground-level ozone is expected to exceed federal standards.
People with a sensitive respiratory system or asthma should limit their time outdoors today. Everyone is encouraged to carpool, drive less and refuel after dark.
It's likely the advisory will be extended through Saturday.
