PHOENIX -- Temperatures will continue to rise above average today as a ridge of high pressure sits over the desert Southwest.  Wednesday's afternoon high topped out at 95 degrees, a full five degrees above average for May 2.

Today is expected to be nearly as warm with a Valley high forecast near 93 degrees. Highs should warm a handful of degrees for Friday and Saturday before leveling off a bit to start next week.

Look for nothing but sunshine statewide over the weekend.

Overnight lows should stay in the 60s over the next couple of evenings under clear skies.

Conditions should be great for viewing this weekend's supermoon. Saturday night's full moon is a supermoon because it's the closest full moon to the earth this year.

The "perigee moon" appears  bigger and brighter than other moons of 2012 since it is only about 225,000 miles away from Earth.
