Peoria man convicted of killing mother

PHOENIX  --  A Peoria man has been convicted of killing his mother in 2010. A jury found 33-year-old Dominic Chagolla guilty on Monday of first-degree murder and concealment of a dead body.

Maria Dolores Chagolla was first reported missing on December 15, 2010. She was last seen dropping off her son near 87th Avenue and Butler Drive in Peoria.

Her body was found days later covered by a blanket in the back seat of her SUV near 81st and Glendale avenues. Glendale police said she had suffered several injuries to her head, including both of her eyes.

Dominic Chagolla was arrested on December 21, 2010. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree murder in January 2011.
