Former school teacher sentenced to jail in child porn case

PHOENIX  -- A former school teacher in Goodyear, Ariz. was sentenced to one year in jail and lifetime probation for child pornography.

The sentence was determined in a plea agreement and the probation includes sex offender terms.

Christopher Perez, 22, was a teacher at Mable Padgett Elementary School was he was arrested in February 2011.

He specialized in teaching autistic children.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force initiated an investigation involving images depicting child molestation being sent over the Internet.

Detectives developed a probable cause to obtain a search warrant on the suspect’s Goodyear home and reportedly found a number of images depicting child molestation involving children under the age of 10 years old.

Police say Perez admitted to having video and images of children involved in acts of molestation during an interview. He was facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
