SUN CITY, Ariz. -- A suspect involved in a standoff situation in the northwest Valley Tuesday morning is in custody.

According to Peoria police, Jonathan Jackson, 23, got into an argument with his girlfriend at Jenny's Diner near Peoria and 99th avenues. Police officers were called to the restaurant.

Police spokesman Jay Davies said Jackson had a misdemeanor outstanding warrant and fled on foot into a neighborhood.

Officers began a foot pursuit and the suspect ran into a home near Alabama and 107th avenues in Sun City.

Police believe Jackson was armed with a knife.

Negotiators and a SWAT team were called to the scene and Jackson was taken into custody shortly after 9 a.m.

Police originally thought he had a hostage inside the home, but later determined there was no one else inside.
