Phoenix weather: Warm week aheadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- After a nice break from the heat this past weekend, Mother Nature brings back the warmth in the new week ahead.
Saturday's Valley highs topped out in the mid 60s with 0.05 inch of rain. Parts of the high country, including Flagstaff, got a foot of snow from our unseasonably strong and cold weekend storm. The storm moved out quickly on Sunday, leaving behind quick-melting snow and Valley highs in the 70s.
Next up for Arizona, a ridge of high pressure builds over the desert Southwest, bringing a rapid warm-up. Valley highs will top out near 83 degrees today under sunny skies. The average high for Phoenix this time of year is 85 degrees. We'll be well above that for the next week at least, with mostly sunny skies through the weekend.
Overnight lows rise to the upper 60s by Friday, and afternoon highs will be in the mid 90s by the end of the week.
Saturday and Sunday look to be very warm, with highs in the upper 90s.
