Phoenix weather: Windy WednesdayPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Strong winds are ushering in a cool change today in Arizona.
A cold front is generating gusty conditions, with red flag warnings and wind advisories in place across Arizona's high country, along with parts of Southeastern Arizona. Scattered rain showers are forecast for Northern, Western and Eastern Arizona, but rain chances are slim for the deserts, including the Phoenix Metro area.
Look for a slight chance of showers this afternoon, winds between about 10 and 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph out of the south.
Temperatures will only peak in the upper 70s this afternoon, and we'll be about as warm tomorrow under mostly sunny skies.
Winds will calm down a bit tomorrow but pick right back up Friday as an even stronger storm moves into Arizona.
Look for strong winds both Friday and Saturday, with a chance of blowing dust in the deserts of the state, including the Valley.
There's a slight chance of rain Friday, with a 30 percent chance overnight Friday and into early Saturday. Look for a slight chance of showers during the day Saturday and Sunday before the storm moves out by Monday.
Highs Saturday are only expected to top out in the mid 60s.
A couple of inches of snow are possible in the high country Friday night through Sunday.
