Phoenix weather: Cooldown comingPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Big weather changes are coming to Arizona this week. Two storms are taking aim at the Southwest, bringing cooler temperatures, strong winds and maybe a little rain and snow.
For your Tuesday, look for another warm afternoon with mostly sunny skies and Valley highs in the low 90s.
Big changes arrive Wednesday with highs only in the low 80s but breezy conditions in the Valley. Look for afternoon winds out of the southwest between 15 and 20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph. Higher winds are expected in the high country and Northern Arizona where there is a red flag warning and fire weather watch in effect Tuesday. This system is expected to be mostly dry.
Another even stronger storm is set to arrive Friday and move through the state Saturday and Sunday. There is a slight chance of rain Friday and a better chance overnight Friday.
Winds are expected to be even stronger with this second storm, especially on Saturday. The air will be colder with this system, too, and high country snow is a possibility Friday through Sunday.
Valley rain chances are at about 20 percent for Saturday, and highs will struggle to make it out of the 60s Saturday afternoon.
Look for mid 70s on Sunday with a slight chance of rain before the storm moves out for the beginning of next week.
