PHOENIX -- Phoenix police have arrested a homicide suspect after a man's body was found in an alley Sunday night.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the victim was found near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road shortly after 9 p.m. The body had obvious signs of trauma.

The victim has been identified as Miguel A. Gonzalez, 27.

On Monday, investigators received a tip that Samuel M. Vasquez, 31, may have been involved in the homicide.

According to investigators, Vasquez got into an altercation with Gonzalez then shot and killed him. Vasquez then dumped the body in the alley.

Vasquez was booked into the Maricopa County Jail, charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of misconduct involving weapons because he is a prohibited possessor.
