SEDONA, Ariz. -- A body found near Sedona has been positively identified as an Oak Creek man who had been missing since October.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said the body was found April 7 in the Woods Canyon area, southeast of Sedona.
The Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed that the body is James Schwartz, 66, who was last seen at his home on Oct. 19 following an argument with his wife. The former Valley pastor left a note, but did not take his wallet, keys, cellphone or insulin.
YCSO spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said a searcher who had previously looked for Schwartz on behalf of the family found the body adjacent to a creek bed more than eight miles outside the Village of Oak Creek.
Schwartz's wife identified a wedding ring found on the body as her husband's wedding band. Deputies also located clothing and a backpack that matched the descriptions given to search personnel.
Deputies said there were no obvious signs of foul play at the scene.
