TEMPE, Ariz. -- Police arrested a Tempe man after he reportedly chased two teenage girls and made a lewd remark toward a woman in a park on Monday.

Curtis Earl Mann, 19, was arrested in Harelson Park near Kyrene and Ray roads in Tempe after police say he approached two 13-year-old girls and engaged them in conversation then chased them as they attempted to flee.

The girls ran toward some adults with children nearby and called 911.

The teens provided a suspect description and police officers located Mann trying to hide near a walled area close to the greenbelt.

Officers learned that Mann had also approached a woman at the same park and made an obscene sexual remark toward her.

Mann was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct.

Detectives are working with other law enforcement agencies to determine if he is a known offender in other areas.

Anyone with information about similar incidents is asked to call Tempe police at 480-350-8311 or your local police department.

Tempe police urge parents and caregivers to remind children of some basic personal safety tips:

Be aware of your surroundings – be observant and on the alert.

When walking to and from school, do not wear personal music devices in ears.

Walk in pairs if possible.

Avoid and be extra aware of isolated places (alleys, for instance).

Never approach a stranger, in or out of a vehicle, or allow a stranger to approach you.

If someone approaches, run, yell, make as much noise as possible, tell an adult you know and trust immediately, and call 911.
