Phoenix Suns dribble-'til-you-drop competition

PHOENIX-- The 4th Annual Bounce With the Suns dribbling competition is under way at the US Airways Center in Phoenix. The event kicked off on Sunday with about 60 people hoping to win a road trip for two with the Suns during their 2012-2013 season.

Twenty-four hours into the dribble contest there were 10 contestants left.

Bounce with the Suns benefits St. Joseph’s Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute. The Suns teamed with St. Joseph’s Health & Wealth Raffle.

“The Suns have really done something amazing. If you buy your ticket while these folks are dribbling, so anytime between 9 a.m. yesterday and until the last man standing, there’s going to be a separate drawing for a road trip for two,” said Kathy Rice, executive director of the Health & Wealth Raffle.

All of the competitors are allowed to stand, sit, and drink, as long as they don’t double dribble. They’re also given five-minute bathroom breaks every two hours.

Last year's winner, Nick Ketner, lasted for 44 hours. Some say this year's contest could go even longer.

Ketner was still in the game and going strong when I checked in on the dribblers Monday morning.

Ketner told me he’s staying away from energy drinks.

“Lots of protein, eating right, almonds,” he said.

Ketner said he really enjoyed his trip with the Suns last year, and hopes to win again.

"I’m going to give it my best shot. That’s the best I can do."
