Phoenix weather: Our first 90-degree day is on the wayPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A strengthening ridge of high pressure means warmer temperatures for Arizona as we get closer to the weekend.
In the high country, look for afternoon highs in the 60s and 70s, with plenty of sunshine.
In the Valley, temperatures will peak in the mid to upper 80s Wednesday through Friday and near at least 90 degrees on Saturday. March 31 is the average date for the first time we hit 90 each year, although last year we saw it a few weeks early.
Saturday's heat won't last as an nearby low pressure system brings breezy and slightly cooler weather.
Sunday's Valley highs are only expected to peak in the low 80s.
