Phoenix weather: Warm week aheadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- After a warm weekend, it looks like even warmer weather is on tap for Arizona in the new week ahead.
A ridge of high pressure will build over the Southwest, bringing afternoon temperatures well above average for this time of year. Phoenix's average high for mid-March is 76 degrees, but we hit 80 on Sunday, and are likely to top out near 82 or 83 just about every day through Friday this week.
Skies are expected to stay mostly sunny, and overnight lows will dip to the mid 40s to mid 50s around town.
Temperatures are forecast to peak in the 50s and 60s this week in the high country with plenty of sunshine there, too.
A change is looking likely by the weekend with a storm bringing rain and snow chances to the state Sunday and next Monday.
