2 Teens arrested after knife, gun reported at San Tan Valley schoolPosted: Updated:
SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. -- Two teens have been arrested after a San Tan Valley school was placed on lockdown for a report of a gun and knife on campus Thursday morning.
Pinal County sheriff's deputies responded to Poston Butte High School within minutes after two students told a school official that someone had brought the weapons onto the school grounds.
Two males, ages 15 and 16, were identified and searched, but no weapons were found.
The 15-year-old student was serving a suspension and was not supposed to be at the school, according to Elias Johnson with the sheriff's office. The 16-year-old was not enrolled at the school. Both suspects were staying at a group home.
During a search of the grounds, a school security guard located an air-soft gun left in the parking lot. Johnson said no knife was found.
No one was injured in the incident.
PCSO cleared the scene and the school was taken off lockdown.
The case has been turned over to the Pinal County Juvenile Probation Office.
