Toyota recalling some Tacomas, Camrys and VenzasPosted: Updated:
TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) -- Toyota says it's recalling 495,000 Tacoma trucks because of possible airbag problems.
The automaker says friction in their steering wheel spiral cable assemblies could eventually cut the connection to the driver's air bag and keep it from deploying in a crash.
The trucks were made during the 2005 to 2009 model years.
Toyota also says it's recalling 70,500 Camry sedans made during the 2009 model year and 116,000 Venza crossovers made between 2009 and 2011, because grease in their stop lamp switches could keep them from starting.á
Toyota says grease may have reached the inside of the switch during installation, causing an increase in electrical resistance.
In both cases, Toyota will repair the vehicles for free. Toyota says it isn't aware of any accidents or injuries caused by the problems.
