Phoenix weather: Warmup for the weekendPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A cold front pushing through Arizona will keep temperatures cool Friday and more breezy to locally windy weather is expected, as well.
The Valley can expect 10- to 20-mph winds out of the north with gusts up to 30 miles an hour.
The Valley is also under a Red Flag Warning through this evening, along with the Colorado River Valley and parts of southeastern Arizona and the White Mountains. A Red Flag Warning means windy and dry conditions with relative humidity expected to fall below 15 percent. It's a dangerous combination that makes the wildfire risk especially high.
Skies should stay mostly sunny today, but Valley highs will be a few degrees below normal, only topping out in the mid-60s. Tonight is expected to be especially chilly with Valley lows dipping to the low 30s in outlying areas, but closer to the low 40s in town.
Saturday is expected to be a bit warmer with a high of 72 degrees, and Sunday and Monday should be even warmer, topping out in the 80s.
No rain or snow is expected for the next five to six days.
