PHEONIX -- The Arizona Centennial Celebration theme is bringing out a new tune in the arts and entertainment scene this month. Among the many performances scheduled, Matt Lehrman from Showup.com recommends checking out these four:
1) Arizona Musicfest 2012: The festival runs thru March 3 and features top artists of Classical, Broadway, Jazz, and Pop in exceptional programs at venues throughout Scottsdale and Carefree.
2) I Am AZ Music: MIM Celebrates 100 Years of Arizona Music: The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) presents their centennial celebration by showcasing Arizona’s musical contributions to the world. The organization documents how music making continues to be an integral part of Arizona’s cultural fabric. The exhibition is located in the United States/Canada Gallery and runs through Jan. 6, 2013.
3) Rock the Presidents: Just in time for President's Day on Monday, Childsplay, Inc., presents a rollicking, multi-media-filled musical revue spanning 223 years of the American presidency- from George Washington to Barack Obama.The show takes the stage at the Tempe Center for the Arts February 18 through March 4,
4) TAO: Art of the Drum: Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts presents the athletic, young drummers of TAO. The group lives and trains in the rugged mountains of Japan bring extraordinary precision, energy, and stamina to their explosive performances. They'll be in town on Saturday February 18 at 8PM.
