Tucson TV anchor resigns over shoplifting casePosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a Tucson television anchor who resigned this week is suspected of stealing items from a store at the Tucson Mall.
Tucson police say a store loss prevention officer allegedly saw Martha Vazquez try on a $338 hooded jacket, check herself in the mirror and then conceal the item.
Police say Vazquez was stopped by the officer when she left the store last weekend, she was searched and the jacket and a $30 pair of earrings were found.
A police officer was called to the store and Vazquez was given a citation and released at the scene.
The Arizona Daily Star says Vazquez is expected to be arraigned Feb. 22 in Tucson City Court and is facing one count of shoplifting, a misdemeanor.
Vazquez resigned Monday from KVOA.
