SCOTTSADLE, Ariz -- Authorities say a Scottsdale salon employee was seriously injured after a driver accelerated from a parking lot and crashed into the business.

The Tuscany Salon employee was pinned between the wall of the salon and the car after the 71-year-old woman beind the wheel accelerated her sedan and ran into the salon at Pinnacle Peak Road and Pima Road about 2:15 p.m. Friday.

She told police she thought she was stepping on the gas pedal.

Police say the salon employee was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center with serious injuries.

Two other people were transported with less serious injuries. It wasn't immediately clear whether they were salon employees or customers.

There were about 30 employees and customers in the building at the time of the crash and it's still unknown why the woman accelerated into the building.
