3OYS puts Valentine's Day candy to the testPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- It's pretty hard to find someone who doesn't like chocolate. For Valentine’s Day, chocolate is usually at the top of the list.
With that in mind, 3 On Your Side wanted to find out if you can really put a price on sweet romance so we put three types of chocolates to the test. We bought a $4 box of Russell Stover from a drug store, a $12 box of See’s Chocolate from their retail shop and a $40 box of Godiva chocolate from a high-end gourmet store.
We labeled the chocolate A, B, and C so no one would know which one was which then we asked customers outside Citizen Espresso coffee shop in Phoenix to taste our samples.
At the end, we totaled the numbers and discovered 52 percent of tasters liked Godiva the best, 43 percent liked See’s, and only 5 percent chose Russell Stover as the best tasting chocolate.
So, what's the lesson in our unscientific test?
“Get us expensive chocolate!” a taste-tester said.
“Chocolate is very important. If you need chocolate, you better get the right chocolate,” another chimed in.
“Do not buy cheap chocolate,” a customer warned.
“I think chocolate is the staple for Valentine’s Day," another taste-tester said. "Every girl loves chocolate. It’s always nice to get some, so I think for a holiday like Valentine’s Day their loved one can afford to spend the few extra bucks for the better tasting chocolate.”
Don't forget Valentine’s Day is this Tuesday.
