Winter to returnPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- It's been an unseasonably warm couple of days across Arizona, a weather trend that will last only about another two days.
High pressure building over the desert Southwest brought Valley highs to the upper 70s Thursday, and they're likely to stay there Friday and Saturday under mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows stay mild, in the 40s and 50s under mostly clear skies.
On Sunday, the first of three storms is forecast to move through the state, bringing a slight chance of rain and snow to Arizona, plus much cooler weather. Highs both Sunday and Monday will only top out in the upper 60s under mostly cloudy skies.
Although moisture will be limited with this first storm, the next two bring more promise for rain and snow.
Monday night through Thursday morning, the Valley has a 20- to 30- percent chance of showers, with snow showers likely in the high country.
Breezy to locally windy conditions are likely, as well.
