PHOENIX -- A teenager was transported to a local hospital after being hit by a light-rail train Saturday night.

It happened just before 7 p.m. at Central and Campbell avenues in Phoenix.

A witness said the 17-year-old was on the tracks looking to see if a train was coming when another train hit him from the opposite direction.

The teen was apparently pinned between the train and the curb.

He was taken to a trauma center in stable condition.
