SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- According to Scottsdale police, a Scottsdale police lieutenant shot and killed an intoxicated man who had threatened a couple and a cab driver with a knife and then came toward officers with a pool cue in each hand.

No officers were injured.

During the confrontation, a K9 officer deployed his dog on the suspect. The dog bit the suspect, but he still advanced on officers to a point where an officer was forced to shoot the man.

Two rounds were fired with at least one striking and killing the suspect who police have identified as Jason Prostrollo, 25.

The K9 who bit Prostrollo was also hit by gunfire. "Raider" sustained a single gunshot wound to the shoulder and neck area. On Sunday police said "Raider" is up and moving around and will recover from the shooting.

The incident occurred Saturday morning at an upscale home near 136th Street and Shea Boulevard.

Clark says the couple invited the man to their house for drinks after meeting him at a bar. The man later pulled a knife, and they talked him into leaving in a cab, then called police.

The suspect put the knife to the cabbie's throat and ordered him to return to the house. The cab driver also called 911.

The male resident is 50 years old; the female resident is 35.
