Warm Thursday

PHOENIX -- Very warm weather is expected across the deserts of Arizona today, especially considering it's the middle of winter.

Yuma and other desert locales could hit 80 degrees today. In the Valley, we'll warm up to about 75, which is seven degrees above average for today's date.  Look for lows in the 40s tonight.

In the mountains, afternoon highs will peak in the mid 50s and 60s with plenty of sunshine.

The clear skies and warm weather are the product of a ridge of high-pressure strengthening over the Southwest.  The ridge will flatten out and lose it's strength a bit as a storm passes by to our north this weekend.

Temperatures will come down a bit over the weekend and into next week, but will still be above average in the low 70s.

Breezy to locally windy conditions can also be expected Friday night and into Saturday.
