Warm-up beginsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Winter looks to be taking a little break in Arizona, with a big warm-up on the way.
Valley highs have been in the mid 60s for the last few days, which is close to average for this time of year. But now, the jet stream is retreating further north, allowing a ridge of high pressure to build over the desert Southwest.
That weather pattern will bring mostly clear skies and above average temperatures through the weekend.
Wednesday afternoon will bring highs near 70 degrees, and will jump to about 75 degrees Thursday.
Low 70s are likely over the weekend, with plenty of sunshine and breezy conditions expected on Saturday.
Overnight lows are expected to bottom out in the 40s across the Valley under mostly clear skies.
