Barrett Jackson winds down, Phoenix Open winds upPosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- After seven days, the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction came to an end with record-breaking numbers.
According to Craig Jackson, 50 percent of the bidders were new to the car-auction industry. On Saturday alone, the auction brought in $4 million more compared to the record-breaking Saturday in 2007.
As tents begin to come down at West World, new tents go up a few blocks away for the Phoenix Open.
Golf officials hope the record-breaking numbers at Barrett Jackson translate into record numbers for them as well. They're expecting more than 400,000 people during the tournament.
Golf officials are also hoping for a warmer start to this year's tournament compared to last year's icy start.
