CHANDLER, Ariz. -- The son of an 80-year-old woman who was found murdered in Chandler on Friday has died after getting in a car crash near Heber.

Chandler police responded to a home in the 2900 block of South Arroyo Drive near Dobson and Queen Creek roads Friday morning to do a welfare check on Beverly Finney.

A caller reported that Finney's son, Greg Bilton, was living wih her and that it was odd she had not been seen or heard from for quite some time, according to Sgt. Joe Favazzo.

Officers were able to gain entry into the residence and located Finney's body. Favazzo said there were obvious signs of foul play and Finney's Cadillac was missing from the home.

At the time, police called Bilton an investigative lead.

Favazzo said Bilton and the missing Cadillac were located in northeastern Arizona Saturday afternoon after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash at milepost 295 on State Route 260.

Bilton was critically injured in the crash and was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash and the homicide is still under investigation.
