Judge orders Arizona to proceed allowing medical marijuana dispensariesPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A major step forward for supporters of medical marijuana in Arizona, after a judge says the state must proceed in allowing people to open dispensaries.
Judge Richard Garna of Maricopa County Superior Court issued the order late Wednesday.
It overturns some of the state's planned restrictions on who can qualify for dispensary licenses, including restrictions based on residency and financial background.
"It's unfortunate that the state leadership has tried to drag this out and not move forward with the will of the people and unfortunately it took a judge's ruling for that to happen," said pharmacy technician Greg Rogan.
Governor Brewer can appeal the judge's ruling.
