Mild weekend aheadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The jet steam takes a dip and winter storms come a bit closer to Arizona this weekend.
Clouds are streaming into the state Friday ahead of the first storm. Look for partly sunny skies by the afternoon, with a Valley high around 70 degrees.
There's a chance of rain and snow in the high country Saturday through Monday, with especially windy weather expected Friday night and Saturday. A high wind watch was issued by the National Weather Service for Mohave County from Friday night until Saturday night, and a Wind Advisory is in effect for Coconino, Apache and Navajo counties from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday. Look for strong southwesterly winds with gusts up to 60 miles an hour.
The Valley will have plenty of cloud cover over the weekend, but only a very slight chance of light rain. By Monday, rain chances increase to about 20 percent, with high temperatures lowering to the mid 60s.
