Video shows 'Joker' robbing Phoenix soda shop

PHOENIX -- A man wearing a wig and face paint robbed a Phoenix soda shop at knifepoint Jan. 8 and police are asking for the public's help to solve the crime.

Police said the suspect entered the Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shops location near Union Hills Drive and 51st Avenue around 6 p.m. and pretended to be a customer. He waited for the other customers to leave the store then approached an employee in the back office.

The suspect was armed with a knife and an employee was cut during a struggle.

Police said the suspect used duct tape to restrain the two employees then took money from a safe and the register. He fled the store through the back door.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black-and-yellow jacket, white shorts, white knee socks and white Adidas stripe sneakers. He had on a black wig and face paint similar to the "Joker" character from "Batman."
