KINGMAN, Ariz. -- A Mohave County jail inmate who escaped last week from a transport van outside a court building was captured Monday in Kingman.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, Darren Eugene Morrison, 26, was taken into custody in a wash area south of Interstate 40. He's been booked back into the county jail.

Morrison escaped from a transport van in Kingman after arriving at the Mohave County Superior Court Wednesday morning. Apparently, Morrison slipped his handcuffs and shackles off prior to him bolting from the van, according to the sheriff's office.

Morrison, of Bullhead City, was expected in court on charges of failure to appear and aggravated assault.

Through the investigation, detectives determined that Ashley Anne Morrison, 24, of Kingman, purchased food and survival equipment to help her husband facilitate his escape.

She was arrested for conspiracy to commit escape.
