Man robs Maricopa check-cashing store

MARICOPA, Ariz. -- Maricopa police are investigating a robbery at a check-cashing business and are asking for the public's help to locate the suspect.

Police said a male entered AB Check Cashing near Honeycutt Road and John Wayne Parkway at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday and handed the employee a note demanding money.

The employee turned over an undetermined amount of cash and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

No weapon was displayed or implied.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect. He is described as a light-skinned male, approximately 32 to 35 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall, 210 to 220 pounds with a dark mustache.

He was last seen wearing sunglasses, light-blue faded jeans, a dark gray pull-over sweater and a tan boonie-style camouflage hat with a black band. The sweater did not have a hood or any identifying insignias or lettering and had a partial zipper from the chest to the neck.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact police at 520-316-6800 or the Silent Witness Hotline at 520-316-6900.

Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to call 911 immediately.
