EL MIRAGE, Ariz. -- Police have arrested three students for allegedly burglarizing an El Mirage school and causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Thompson Ranch Elementary School was closed for Christmas break when the juveniles, ages 10, 11 and 12, got into the school through an unlocked door, according to the El Mirage Police Department.

Police said the juveniles found some cans of paint inside the building and painted the walls, carpet and furniture.

They're also accused of breaking electronic equipment, vending machines and office equipment.

The damage is estimated at more than $30,000.

The students were arrested Jan. 10 for burglary and criminal damage.

The investigation is ongoing to identify any additional suspects.
