What's New In 2012 Beauty Products

Posted: Updated:

Last week I showed my favorite beauty products from 2011, so now let's take a look at some of the cool cosmetics and a few fashion items that are new for 2012.  I had a blast interviewing my Walgreens beauty expert, Bianca about what just debuted  in the cosmetics aisle because the products are truly unique.  We picked a few to show you, plus I'm including some additional items from other stores, too.

For the Eyes:

*Rimmel Volume Flash Scandal Eyes Mascara ($7.29 at Walgreens) -- Did you know that Rimmel London invented mascara?  That is what Bianca tells me and I did not know that!  So, she says that they continue to be long lash experts and this new mascara does not disappoint.  The huge brush captures and plumps every lash and the box says that this formula is suitable for gals with sensitive eyes, too.

*Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara ($8.99 at Walgreens) -- Revlon's PhotoReady line is inspired by the many celebrities that Revlon's Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman works with on professional photo shoots.  She consults with top photographers for magazine cover shoots that include Vogue, Vanity Fair and more.  To get the lash definition that Emma Stone sports on the revlon.com website, use this mascara in blackest black and be sure to apply two coats.

*Kiss EverBrowMD Brow Enhancing Serum and Everlash Enhancing Serum (both sell for $19.99 at Walgreens) -- Bianca tells me that customers have been buying these two products that promise to achieve fuller looking brows and longer lashes.  The packaging states that an innovative blend of peptides, nucleotides and vitamins enhance lash and eyebrows.  Since these products are new and Bianca's customers are in the process of trying these out, we can't tell you how well these work, but we wanted to include these two products because customers have been excited about these two new additions.

*Maybelline Color Tattoo By EyeStudio 24 Hour eye shadow ($3.50 at Walgreens) -- Bianca tells me that this is one eye shadow that stays on your lids.  And because it is a cream eye shadow, it won't crease either.  Plus the line comes in multiple bright and beautiful colors.

*Rimmel London Glam'Eyes HD ($6.29 at Walgreens) -- Rimmel's new eye shadow line that includes instructions on the back of the package on where to apply the different shades on the eyelid.  Plus a fun touch is that the color palette is shaped like the United Kingdom flag.

For The Skin:

*Almay Clear Complexion Concealer + Treatment Gel ($9.99 at Walgreens) -- This concealer has treatment gel on one end that is applied in the first step to help clear and prevent acne, followed by the concealer that is housed on the other end to cover up the blemish.

*CoverGirl & Olay Tone Rehab 2-in-1 Foundation Base ($15.99 at Walgreens) -- Two cosmetic companies join together to offer a base that combines foundation with a serum to gradually improve skin tone.  It covers fine lines, wrinkles and discolorations, while giving a flawless appearance, plus it promises to improve the overall look and feel of your skin with the built in serum.

*Revlon Photoready Airbrush Mousse Makeup Foundation ($13.99 at Walgreens) -- This interesting base is infused with air to mimic a makeup artist's airbrushed finish so that pores are hidden and skin looks smooth.  Be sure to shake the bottle before application because this helps to dispense the air-infused mousse.

*Almay Smart Shade Perfect & Correct Primer ($13.99 at Walgreens) -- This light weight gel primer is the first step in Almay's suggested makeup application process.  Almay says that applying this hypoallergenic formula helps to even out skin tone, while making skin smoother, softer and brighter.  The green ribbons neutralize redness and the lavender pigments even out and brighten skin tone.

*Revlon Photoready Sculpting Blush Palette ($12.99 at Walgreens) -- 3-in-1 makeup artist inspired palette with highlighter, blush and contour that add color, sculpt and illuminate.  Oil free, talc free, fragrance free and free of parabens.  Comes in four shades, too.

*gud from Burt's Bees Skin Care Line ($5.99 at Walgreens) -- Bianca is very excited about this new line from Burt's Bees.  I like the Orange Petalooza Blood Orange Flower scent and the Vanilla Flame Vanilla and Ice Milk is also nice.  Both come in body wash, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizers, body butter and more.  It also comes in Flora Cherrynova and the products have no parabens, phthalates or petrochemicals.

*Cetaphil DermaControl Oil Control Foam Wash ($10.99 at drug stores in March 2012) -- This wash uses advanced Zinc technology with less preservatives to cleanse acne-prone skin.  Licorice root extracts are used with anti-inflammatory properties that soothe irritated areas of the skin.  The bottle says that it also prepares skin for prescription acne treatments and rinses clean with no residue.

*Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant New Fragrance Free ($17.00 at Elizabeth Arden counters nationwide and elizabetharden.com) -- This cream isn't new, but the new fragrance-free variety is, making the huge following this product has very happy.  This product has been the winner of over 40 global beauty awards and is a celebrity favorite.  Touted as a multi-purpose product, this stuff can relieve chapped dry skin, groom brows, gloss lips and more.

For the Lips

*CoverGirl BlastFlipStick Blendable Lip Duo ($9.79 at Walgreens) -- New from CoverGirl, one end is a matte/creme lip color and the opposite end is a complimentary shimmer lip color that can be worn together or separately, with lots of cool shade duos, too.

For the Nails

*Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel ($4.00 at Walgreens) -- Bianca tells me that her customers are very excited about this polish that rivals gel manicures without needing a UV lamp.  This formula includes UV-sensitive elements so the polish cures as it dries.  And it does so in natural light, for a stronger, harder finish than regular polish.  Plus it comes off with regular polish remover, while lasting a few days longer than typical polish.  I haven't tried it, but I intend to and I'll get back to you with my results in an upcoming nail product segment!

Have you tried this nail polish or any of the other new products that were discussed here?  Since all of these products are brand new for 2012, I haven't tried most of them, but I would love to know your opinions, so share here in the comments section.   And remember to check out my website at managedmoms.com for more beauty news, recipes, pet pics and more.  Happy 2012 beauty shopping!
