Tucson headlines: Structure fires across Tucson; Power outage in southern Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Firefighters had a busy Sunday around the Tucson area.

Crews responded to mobile home fires on East Corona Road and Benson Highway near Valencia.

A two alarm fire involved a wooden shed next to Roberts Elementary at 29th and Columbus.

The school was not damaged, firefighters were able to contain the flames to the shed.

There were two house fires in the Tucson area Sunday as well.

A home on Irvington Road near Harrison sustained major damage from a fire as did and a home at Calle Matus and 15th Avenue, in which a dog died.

No other injuries were reported at any of the fires.


TUCSON, Ariz. -- A car ran into a power pole Sunday just after 4 P.M. at 36th Street and Mission Road.

The accident dislodged power lines and caused road closures in the area.

TEP says about 4400 customers in that area lost power as a result of the crash.

Power was restored to all affected by 5:30 Sunday evening.
