TUCSON, Ariz. -- Gabrielle Giffords made her first appearance in Tucson Friday night after returning to Tucson to attend January 8 memorial events.

Giffords helped to unveil a plaque at her office honoring Gabe Zimmerman.

And on Saturday morning Gabby and her husband Mark Kelly paid a visit to the newly dedicated Gabe Zimmerman trailhead.

Gabe is the only congressional staffer ever killed in the line of duty.

Saturday afternoon Giffords, returned to the scene of her near fatal shooting for the very first time.

She made an appearance at the Safeway, the scene of the crime that left six dead and thirteen others wounded.

Mark Kelly says she pointed out the parking spot she used the day of the shooting nearly one year ago.

Giffords also talked to people outside the Safeway before leaving.
