The Origination of Girl Scout Cookies
The creation and selling of Girl Scout Cookies dates back to the 1920’s when Florence E. Neil submitted a cookie recipe in The American Girl Magazine and estimated costs of $.26 - $.36 for six to seven dozen cookies. Ms. Neil then suggested the cookies be sold to troops at. $25 - $.35 per dozen cookies. Today the sale of Girl Scout Cookies continues and with every purchase 70% of the proceeds go directly to the local Girl Scout council with the remaining balance going to the baker to pay for the cookies.
