TUCSON, Ariz. -- Downed power lines caused a power outage Tuesday in midtown and east Tucson.

A possible transformer failure knocked power lines loose at Alvernon and Glenn at about 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The incident caused a power outage that affected about 6,000 customers.

TEP crews were on the scene working to fix the problem late into the night.  By 9 P.M. Tuesday, just over 200 customers were still without power.

The intersection of Alvernon & Glenn remained closed until repairs were completed.

Power was restored to all customers early Wednesday morning.
