Mesa man accused of leaving kids home alone to rob Circle K

MESA, Ariz. -- A Mesa father is accused of leaving his young children home alone while he robbed a convenience store.
According to court paperwork, Jason Villagas, 26, entered the Circle K near Baseline and Dobson roads Saturday afternoon and robbed the store and a customer at knifepoint. He was captured on video surveillance.
Police stopped Villagas about two hours later and found a Circle K bag containing approximately $309 in his possession.
Villagas told police that he had left his three children, ages 1, 4 and 6, alone in his apartment, according to the court documents.
Villagas is facing two counts of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and three counts of child abuse.
